Last year Shelter Social Club developed two new projects – First,  The Ojai Rancho Inn and 2nd, Sama Sama Test Kitchen. Make Smith Leather Co. co-designed these two leather pieces with Leo Basica for Shelter Social Club.  We then handmade them in our Santa Barbara CA workshop.  We think these leather carry goods came out pretty nice/and rustic!

Leather working was inherited from my father and grandfather.  Steven Senior and Bernard G. Soria, my dad and grandpa, continue to work in this traditional craft and contribute to the Make Smith Company.

Leather crafting workshops will be held on the second part of this month (January and extend into February), in three-day spurts. They will all be held in a Thursday, Friday, Saturday format, you can choose a day that best fits your schedule. Each class is ONLY A ONE DAY CLASS – for three hours from 6 to 9pm, and costs $75. What we will do: 
We will cut a belt from an actual cow-hide, and then size it to fit your waist, finish the edges and color it.  Each person will leave with a working knowledge and a list of tools necessary to make a basic belt.  Also, you will leave with a belt that you have made with your own hands.

You will need $50, a small note book, a pencil, and closed toed shoes because we don’t want any smashed up toes!
